OC Coffee Shops | Humanity Coffee
If you’re looking for a minimal, yet aesthetic coffee shop look no further than Humanity Coffee in Newport Beach. Not only will you find a good cup of coffee, but also tea, toasts, and sandwiches.
First Impressions
Humanity Coffee is a small, beautifully designed café that is well connected with their community. It was nice to see the whole gym next door supporting the shop as well as a collaboration with a local donut business. Accurate to their values stated on their website, Humanity Coffee truly believes in the power of human connection.
When deciding on what to order, the menu listed a separate menu for their specialties. And I love unique lattes. However, after I asked about the menu, the barista simply stated what was already on their regular menu. While I understand that this is a newer spot, if there is not actually any specialties or seasonal items then it’s a bit disappointing to discover that there is actually no second menu.
Baristas
Honestly, service was fast and friendly just like any other place. In a previous coffee shop review I did mention my aversion towards baristas simply just listing off the menu. There just seemed like there was no opinion or customer favorite for any of the coffees to garner interest.
DRINKS
I ended up getting the “Viet Crack” simply because I’ve always enjoyed Vietnamese Coffee.
Vietnamese Coffee is known for being quite strong, but also sweet because it’s mixed with condensed milk. The Viet Crack was less sweet compared to other coffees, strong, but still good! It just didn’t leave much of an impression, especially for claiming to be like “crack.”
The branding is on point though. I love the different sayings on the coffee cups which just bring a smile to my face. It’s a little boost of positivity combined with the happiness of grabbing a cup of coffee in the morning.
If I were to ever go again, I’d try the Ube Latte as I don’t see that often in coffee shops around the coast of Orange County.
FInal Thoughts
I would give Humanity Coffee a second chance if I were in the area, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to grab a coffee from this spot. Everything just felt pretty average. I do appreciate how connected the community is though. Plus, if you want some cute pictures it’s worth the visit!
