Apple Picking Near Los Angeles

Fall activities are in full effect in SoCal! Every year my friends and I take a day trip up to the mountains to pick apples, indulge in yummy fall treats, and just have a fun and relaxing day.

The closest apple picking area near Los Angeles is Oak Glen. There are several orchards to choose from and most farms are open from early September until the end of November. Somehow each year we end up at a different spot unintentionally. My GPS always stops working, so it’s an adventure to see where we decide to stop.

This year we ended up at Stone Soup Farm & Heritage Orchard. To be honest, this spot is probably my personal favorite out of all the other orchards.

While it is a much smaller orchard to pick apples, Stone Soup Farm is a family-owned business filled with so much love and care. This is the one spot that is worth making a reservation for. But they do allow walk-ins if there is space.

Unlike most u-pick farms, Stone Soup Farm has created an Orchard Tour that allows you to pick apples, press cider, learn how to throw a tomahawk, sample foods, and explore different activities all under one packaged price.

While it was confusing at first, it ended up being a great time! It’s a totally different experience from all the other orchards. The owners, Faith and Tim, were so kind and informative, it just felt like a more cozy and personal experience.

However, if you’re looking for a more leisurely experience I do recommend checking out the other apple orchards in the area as Stone Soup Farm schedules apple picking by the hour.
