Blackberry Matcha Latte
Homemade blackberry syrup for a sweet and tangy twist for your everyday sips.
If you’re looking to switch up your coffee or tea routine with something refreshing, colorful, and just a little bit unexpected, this blackberry matcha latte might be your new favorite. It’s a beautiful combo of earthy matcha, tangy blackberries, and a touch of sweetness—all coming together in an aesthetically layered drink that tastes as good as it looks.
I love this recipe because it’s not only easy, but it feels like a little café moment at home. The blackberry syrup adds a vibrant burst of flavor (and color!) that pairs surprisingly well with both matcha and coffee. Plus, making your own syrup means you can control the sweetness levels to your liking.

Blackberry Syrup
This quick syrup is the secret star of the show. Make a batch and keep it in the fridge for about a week.
In a small saucepan, combine the water, sugar, and blackberries.
Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the berries break down and the syrup slightly thickens.
Remove from heat and let it cool.
Strain into a jar or bottle. (Or leave the pulp in for extra flavor and texture—it’s totally up to you!)
Blue Milk
To get a natural blue hue, simply stir 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of blue matcha powder (also known as butterfly pea flower powder) into your milk of choice. Froth until fully blended. The result is a vibrant, caffeine-free blue milk that adds a magical touch to your latte! For a smoother texture, mix powder with hot water first.
Tips & Variations
Layer Like a Pro: To get distinct layers, pour the matcha slowly over the back of a spoon so it floats on top of the milk instead of mixing in right away.
Creamier Texture: Use oat milk, coconut milk, or half-and-half for a richer, creamier drink.
Make It Sweeter: If you prefer a sweeter drink overall, add a bit of honey or maple syrup to your matcha before layering it into the drink.
This blackberry matcha is a gorgeous, flavorful way to elevate your usual drink game—perfect for slow mornings, afternoon pick-me-ups, or when you just want to feel like a barista in your own kitchen.
