Iced Blue Mocha
Some days call for something a little more than just your average cup of coffee. Maybe you’re feeling a little off, a little quiet, or just in need of a comforting pick-me-up. Try this Blue Mocha Latte for a boost of happiness.
It’s a drink that not only looks stunning with its dreamy, ocean-blue hue, but also delivers the rich, cozy depth of chocolate and the familiar warmth of espresso.
The magic starts with blue matcha—also known as butterfly pea flower powder. It’s naturally caffeine-free and loaded with antioxidants. It also gives your drink that vibrant blue color and a subtly earthy flavor. Similar to matcha, but even lighter.
You’ll want to make this iced to admire the beautiful layers and swirls.
What You’ll Need:
Splash of warm water
1/2 tbsp simple syrup (adjust to taste)
1/2 tsp blue matcha (butterfly pea flower powder)
1 or 2 shots of espresso
chocolate syrup
1/2 cup milk of choice
ice
How To Make It:
In a small cup, mix your blue matcha powder with a splash of warm water and simple syrup until smooth. A small whisk works best. This will be your vibrant blue base.
Add your mixture over ice with milk.
Next, pull your espresso shot(s) and stir in the chocolate syrup while it’s still warm. This will blend everything nicely together.
Now pour your espresso mixture over your matcha milk and watch your drink mix into a dreamy marbled creation.
Enjoy!
Tips & Variations:
If you're going for presentation, pour each part slowly to keep the layers visible before stirring.
Try a pinch of cinnamon or a dash of chili powder in the chocolate for a spicy mocha.
Hot Version: Skip the ice and warm the milk. Layer the blue matcha first, then add the chocolate-espresso on top.
It really is amazing how a simple drink can shift the energy of your day.
