OC Coffee Shops | Equator Coffees

I love specialty coffees. So when Equator Coffees opened in Laguna Beach, I was excited to discover the unique flavors they offered.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

The cafe is actually quite small, but it’s connected to the old Rivian Theater that they restored in order to showcase film screenings as well as create a soothing environment to work, study, and more. It actually feels more like a combination of a museum and business with the added bonus of coffee!

BARISTAS

Ordering my coffee was quiet, but not unpleasant. Honestly, I wasn’t too fussed as I’m not always one for small talk and I already knew exactly what I wanted.

DRINKS

Getting two drinks to try was just a must, especially since I don’t go to Laguna Beach often. I got the Pear Spice Latte and the Habibi Latte both iced with oat milk.

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and depth of flavors, although one definitely left a stronger positive impression.

With the Pear Spice Latte you get a light flavor of pear that mixes well with the coffee. It’s honestly a great balance, but I wish the cinnamon spices were more present. I’d recommend this to anyone who wants to try something new, but isn’t exactly the most adventurous type with different flavors.

The Habibi Latte ended up being my favorite of the two! I thought it would be the opposite, but I actually love how striking the orange flavor is. It’s impactful, not too sweet, and the coffee still stands out. Again, I would like to notice the spice flavors mentioned in the drink, but it’s still a delicious coffee that I will get again.

FINAL THOUGHTS

What an amazing location by the sea. There are actually tons of options to choose from— whether you like matcha, lemonade, or just a plain cup of coffee. I’ve already recommended this spot to a few of my friends!
