#CreateWithChelle: What’s For Breakfast?
I hope everyone is staying positive during their home quarantine! On top of this project, I challenge you to stay away from the news for at least a day or two. Taking a break from any information surrounding COVID-19 can actually be better for your mental well-being. Focus on creating some artwork today!
Home Portraits Challenge Three: Fashion Edition
Strip out of your PJs, get dressed, and complete this challenge! Don’t fall into the trap of staying in your comfy pants every single day, all day long. Changing your clothes will freshen you up and create a sense of normalcy.
When you’re deciding on an outfit, try something new! Put together a look you wouldn’t normally wear everyday. Layer up pieces or combine items that don’t typically go together. This challenge is all about having fun and expressing your style!
Don’t stress when you’re trying to figure out your props. Go with your first thought and roll with it. When I was thinking how I was going to accomplish this photo, the cogs in my brain could not stop spinning. I love a good aesthetic and never really shoot everyday life. On top of that, I’m not big on breakfast either. But because Lenny loves cereal we have a bunch of options in the pantry!

My Thoughts: To say this challenge was easy would be a lie. As much as I had fun creating these images, this was actually my second attempt. The first didn’t involve much of anything, just a bed sheet hung up as a backdrop. I’m used to relying on nature as a background that I often dismiss the idea of using a blank wall.
When I reviewed the images from my failed shoot, I was quite dissatisfied for several reasons. Mainly technical, but I also felt like the vision wasn’t fully developed. I did a lot of thinking on how I would shoot this concept. And then it clicked!
Just a little reminder to everyone, fashion is an illusion. And that isn’t always a bad thing. My “dining table” is actually a console table and the drawers were edited out. Even my sequin dress was originally pink. When you have the tools to manipulate an image, it can really boosts your creativity! It definitely helped in making my vision come to life, where originally I had not thought to do much.
