Swiss Miss Fashion

You ever just pick up a box of hot cocoa and wish you could transform into the design? No? Just me…

All jokes aside, I was surprisingly inspired to create four different fashion looks based off of the Swiss Miss holiday box designs. I will admit, I really was just at the store to pick up some flavored hot cocoa! There weren’t any festive flavors in the normal aisle and finding all the flavors in one gift bundle was the perfect combo to satisfy all my hot chocolate cravings.

Before I even began contemplating a whole mini series, I was already halfway through my stash! Inspiration struck though when I realized all the creatures were dressed up in some sort of cozy accessory. The boredom of staying at home was kicking in and I thought it would be a fun idea to dress up as each animal over the course of four days in my own style.

Day One: Milk Chocolate Penguin

My main focus for this outfit was actually the lights. See them in action on my Instagram! Milk Chocolate is such a classic hot cocoa flavor, I wanted the lights to be that quintessential style that everyone associates with Christmas.

Having the lights wrapped around my body, I imagined this penguin dressing up to attend a somewhat casual event and not so much all bundled up. Instead, I stuck to the color scheme down to the red headpiece, but wore an outfit that would make me feel like a fancy version of the Swiss Miss penguin.

Day Two: Marshmallow Fox

I was planning on shooting every outfit at home, but I was compelled to shoot this look outside for some reason. It kind of breaks the whole style of this series, but overall I love how the image turned out and I don’t think I would have preferred it any other way!

My favorite part was turning an ornament into an earring. I had originally planned for this to be a tighter portrait. However, I started playing around with the scarf and the motion gave life to the whole concept.

Day Three: Caramel Owl

Let’s be honest, the owl design isn’t adorned with any fashion accessories! However, when I think of owls, I think of librarians or bookworms. So, to put this look together I focused more on the colors and fun, cozy textures that a smart fashionista might wear. And while I typically wouldn’t wear anything like this, I fell in love with how it all came together!

Also, I recently discovered that caramel hot cocoa and gingerbread cookies are an amazing combo! Plus, I just had to include a mug in this shot or it wouldn’t be representative of the owl design. What better way to capture this than with how I like to enjoy the drink.

Day Four: Peppermint Polar Bear

The most simple outfit, but also the most stressful! I’ve never been great at creating a series of photos. Obviously, since I couldn’t even stay on a cohesive pathway on day two! This being the last look, my brain power was already all used up and I laid in bed contemplating where exactly to shoot, what little details to add, and even how to frame the shot. Once I was tired of thinking (like ten minutes max) I decided to just go for it and capture the look.

I felt so cozy all layered up in warm clothing. The texture on the jacket paired with the fuzzy pom-pom beanie transformed me into the perfect peppermint polar bear! I didn’t want to include another green scarf in the series, instead I decided to add pops of color with the candy cane and the knitted detail on the beanie.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I’m super proud I was able to accomplish this idea. Usually I am so hard on myself and constantly over analyze my photos. While I’m always looking to improve, I can happily say I love these images. What started as a grocery run turned into a creative adventure!
