Target Sweater Set Transformation And Self-Love Journey
For so long, I avoided certain clothes because I didn’t feel “ready” to wear them . Always waiting until I looked a certain way or felt more confident. But, confidence doesn’t come from fitting into your clothes perfectly.
It comes from feeling like yourself in what you wear.
So when I found this cozy knit sweater and short set from Target, I instantly fell in love! The texture, the fit, the little ribbon detail everything about it felt right.
But I still hesitated with the idea of wearing shorts.
It’s been years since I felt comfortable wearing shorts. Every time I tried, my attention went straight to my insecurities. But this time, I didn’t want to let that win.
When I brought the set home, I noticed the black ribbon detail looked easy to remove and thought, “What if I make it pink?”
It felt symbolic, changing something small to make it feel more me.
So, I grabbed a pink ribbon, a needle, and some thread, and started replacing it.
The process was simple enough, unthreading the black ribbon, then weaving the pink one through. Nothing fancy, but somehow it felt like an act of self-care. As I sewed, I realized how much this tiny DIY reflected something bigger: I was finally allowing myself to show up as I am, not who I thought I needed to be.
When I put the finished outfit on, pink ribbon and all, something shifted.
It wasn’t about how my body looked in the mirror anymore. It was about how I felt. And the simple change to pink brought me so much joy!
Soft. Comfortable. And confident in a gentle way.
It reminded me that we don’t need to change our bodies to feel beautiful. Sometimes we just need to wear what makes us feel like ourselves.
Confidence isn’t about perfection. It’s about presence.
You’re allowed to wear what you love, right now, as you are.
Maybe for you it’s not a pink ribbon. Maybe it’s choosing a color that makes you happy, or trying a trend you’ve been scared of. But whatever it is, I hope you do it anyway.
