Photo Poses For Shy People

Are you looking for easy poses for Instagram to try? Do you feel shy in front of the camera? Here are five easy poses you can try in order to boost your confidence in front of the camera!

I’ve always been awkward and a little reserved when it came to photos. I started as a photographer and knew how to pose models, however for beginners it’s a completely different feeling. Not everyone is ready to start jumping around for photos right away.

In order to get comfortable in front of the camera, you first need to be comfortable with your body. I’ve found more subtle movements help when you’re just starting to pose.

Pose 1: Hug Yourself

Being shy doesn't mean you're lacking in abilities, it's more about feeling unsure and timid in certain situations that are uncomfortable. This pose specifically produces a confident stance while also giving you comfort with a little hug.

By looking away from the camera or closing your eyes while you pose, you break that nervous tension. It helps redirect your focus so you can concentrate on posing instead of the camera clicking or people passing by.

Pose 2: Over The Shoulder

According to body language experts, whenever we are feeling shy or anxious we tend to cover our most vital parts by crossing our arms. As a result you may look stiff or awkward while posing openly in front of the camera.

This specific pose turns your vulnerability away from the camera, while also giving the option to show your face if you want! Lifting your arms while posing also helps add comfort because it serves as a protection barrier.

Pose 3: Arms Behind Back

Oftentimes we feel camera shy because we are unsure what to do with our body. The lack of confidence results in stiff limbs, awkward movement, and closed-off body language.

Posing with your arms behind your back gives you the security to still hold onto yourself while also creating a more relaxed and confident posture.

Pose 4: Use Props

Props can help you enhance your poses and create a whole narrative for the photo.

This also helps give you something to do with your hands while also giving you some coverage if you feel too exposed in front of the camera.

Pose 5: LOOK AWAY

Your eyes say a lot, even in photos. It’s easy to tell what you’re feeling when making direct eye contact with the camera.

If you’re feeling nervous, try posing with your eyes looking above the camera or to the side. This way, you can break any tension when posing a specific way.

Remember to have fun when posing for photos! Try different things to see what works best for you. No matter what, you are beautiful. So let your beauty shine!
