Summer to Fall Fashion
Transitioning between summer and fall can be quite a challenge, especially in SoCal. September is quite scorching most years and the weather doesn’t actually start to cool off until October or November. And what a shame! Fall fashion is incredibly cute! However, you can still join this season’s fashion early on even if you live in a warmer climate.
Focus On Patterns
Even though my style is quite minimal, gingham is one of my favorite patterns for fall! You don’t have to be decked out in full pattern, but a little hint here and there will give a bit more of a seasonal feeling. Accessories are a great start for incorporating more patterns into your wardrobe.
Trending Patterns To Consider
Plaid or Houndstooth
Vintage Florals
Tie-Dye
Patchwork
Abstract Prints
Look At The Silhouette
Its strange to think that the silhouette of clothing can define a season! But with Cottagecore on the rise, Victorian silhouettes are quite trendy for fall this year. So if you’re lacking the opportunity to wear more structured coats and jackets, think more about puff sleeves, statement collars, and flowy dresses.
Popular Silhouettes
Exaggerated Volume
Tiered Clothing
Cropped Jackets
Play With Color
Lastly, experiment with your color palette! Again, you don’t have to go full on bright, warm colors, but a splash of red or orange will smoothly begin your transition into fall fashion. Combine your brighter colors with some earthy, neutral tones and you’ll definitely be ready for the new season!
Common Color Palettes
Neutrals: White, Brown, Black
Warm: Red, Orange, Beige
Cool: Monotone Blues
Fashion is all about expressing your own personal style, so have fun with whatever outfits you put together! If a certain trend isn’t for you, that’s perfectly okay! I myself appreciate all the trends, but at the end of the day my style is fairly simple.
