2019: A Year In Review

For me, 2019 had felt like the longest, yet fastest year so far. I can't believe we've wrapped up another year, but at the same time it felt like it took a while to get to the end! It's just such a bizarre feeling.
Looking back, I've accomplished so much and I'm proud that I was able to do so! It's been a year filled with great success, but the road was not always smooth.
Through the difficult and confusing times, I've learned important lessons. The hard times help shape us and appreciate the good times even more. I wouldn't change anything. I wanted to take a moment to reflect on what I learned this year!
Be More Daring
This means pursuing all the things that you want to do! Maybe you’ve been sitting on idea for a while now, but still haven’t worked up the courage to do so. Do it anyways! You’ll never be comfortable until you jump into it and keep going.
I started shooting by myself this year again and it was the most nerve-wracking experience ever. People look at you as if they’ve never seen a camera before, you get approached with thousands of questions, and no one actually leaves you alone. Top that with some pink hair and people really start to get curious! I still get anxious when shooting alone, but I honestly just tell myself, “Fuck it. I’m getting it done.”
Pushing past my anxiety and frustrations has helped me in so many ways. I’m comfortable being alone and I have a greater appreciation for myself. I feel like I’m able to accomplish anything even if I feel like the results were a fail! It just means I have to not be afraid to try again.
Love And Let Go
Some people are in your life forever, while others only hang around for a moment. Cherish the times you spend together, but never cling onto someone who has decided to walk away. You cannot force a relationship whether it is romantic or platonic. The best you can do is love with all your heart!
And it could be the opposite! Maybe you are feeling toxic emotions around someone. You need to leave the negative situation and learn to love yourself again.
I tend to invest every part of myself into someone when first meeting a new friend. I want to support the other person and see them at their best. I’m learning to take a step back and not be so overbearing. I can still love and provide support at a distance, which leaves all the drama behind!
Travel More
Travelling always makes me so happy and relaxed! I feel more connected to myself and the quality time spent with my travel buddy is truly special. Being in a new place always opens your eyes to all the differences and similarities there are in the world.
This year I took a solo trip out of state and it was such a crazy experience! I learned that I’m capable of handling everything on my own, but that I would much rather travel with a friend. Nothing wrong with that!
I hope to travel more in 2020! There is just so much out there waiting to be discovered.
Experiment With Creativity
This is one of my favorite lessons! As much as I love fashion and blogging, sometimes I get way too caught up in just showing off an item. Especially if its for a collab. I actually specialize in mixed-media and digital art. My main focus is photography though, so other artistic elements aren’t always in the forefront of my mind.
Whenever I get a chance, I’m always sculpting my own props or digitally altering an image to add some fantasy. I want to continue creating such pieces, but also work on my angles! Art and photography is my safe space where I can do anything that will bring me joy. I hope to create even more fantastical images in the future!
