Embrace Yourself

I hope 2020 is treating you well so far! To be honest, January was rough — it felt like a year in itself. However, its always good to remember that progress is a slow process. There will always be hiccups as you are improving. And if you continue to work just a tiny bit every day towards your goals you can achieve anything!

The past few years I really struggled with confidence, whether it was with how I looked or just my ability to create. I'm still working on myself and that's perfectly fine! I've noticed a huge difference between the person I was five years ago to the person I am now.

Self-love doesn’t happen overnight, don’t be too harsh on yourself! You will not wake up one day and love every inch of yourself and everything will suddenly be better. Truly loving yourself doesn’t look perfect. If you really want to get to the point of acceptance you must put in the work.

Here are some reminders that work for me

Be Kind To Yourself

This is always the number one thing I repeat to myself. You’ll have bad days, bad weeks, bad months and it can really be a struggle to love yourself. I’ve had long periods of times where I spiral into negativity. Know that all this is okay, but also push to get out of that dark cloud surrounding you. Kill the negativity with kind words to yourself even if you don’t believe it at first.

Imperfections Are Beautiful

Look in the mirror. What makes you unique? Do not look at your imperfections as flaws. Your differences are what makes you you. And that is beautiful because you are one of a kind!

Growth Isn’t Linear

You’ve been on a good track for months now, but then you suddenly crash. You breakdown and don’t know how to get back up. Stop and take a moment to realize what has happened. This is not a failure. It is a learning moment.

Focus On Happiness

Do something that brings you joy! If you’ve been thinking about it, but struggle with finding the energy to pursue it, you have to force yourself! You are the only person stopping yourself from enjoying different activities. And you don’t have to suddenly start travelling the world that very moment.

Start Small

Maybe you want to have a flourishing garden. Start the research process. When you’re ready, buy the supplies. Take a break. The following weekend lay down the soil. Take another break. Plant the seeds and begin watering every day. Watch your hard work bloom.

As cheesy or cliché as it sounds, you are that flourishing garden! Taking small steps every day will start your journey of embracing who you are. You’ll discover what works and what doesn’t work for you. Simply starting that process is a huge step in the right direction.
