Oregon Diaries: Oakwood Gardens Farm Stay
Recently, I took a mini vacation with my best friend to Oregon. It was only for a few days, but it was incredibly relaxing. I’m not much of a city person and we didn’t plan all our activities in Portland, so this farm stay was the perfect getaway. Even if the majority of your trip is focused in Portland, Oakwood Gardens is only about a twenty minute drive from the city center.
Staying at Oakwood Gardens is well worth the drive. There’s so much to explore, its like having your own personal park. With 70-acres to discover and friendly alpacas to feed, you could easily spend half the day at this quiet location.
There are several different accommodation types on the farm. When we first arrived, our host, Julie, had informed us that there were others staying on the property as well. However, we rarely saw anyone else whenever we decided to explore the area.
Julie was an excellent host! She was always quick to reply and never invaded anyone’s privacy. Everything around the Airbnb had such a personal and homely touch, from flowers on the tables to special treats for everyone to enjoy. And for me, being obsessed with animals, the best experience Julie could provide was feeding the alpacas!
There wasn’t any ounce of awkwardness or weird interaction. She simply left a bucket full of alpaca treats so we could meet the alpacas on our own time. Every morning before we headed out to explore, we’d greet the alpacas and give them some snacks.
All the alpacas had such great personalities! It was just what I needed and it made this trip all the more special. Animals and nature are some of the best ways to relax.
I’d highly recommend exploring your options when deciding where to stay if you visit Portland or anywhere else in Oregon. It is such a beautiful state and I plan to visit again!
